Since 1989 I’ve worked in all aspects of nonfiction publishing, focusing on the categories of business, leadership, politics, current affairs, history, narrative journalism, biography, psychology, and personal development.
I’ve worked closely with many prominent authors, including CEOs, entrepreneurs, journalists, venture capitalists, professors, consultants, politicians, and military leaders. During my years at several “Big Five” publishers, I was fortunate to collaborate with bestselling authors such as Larry Bossidy, Sophia Amoruso, Seth Godin, Barbara Corcoran, Guy Kawasaki, General Stan McChrystal, Bethany McLean, and Simon Sinek.
After graduating from Princeton as a history major, I began my career as an intern at Simon & Schuster, followed by a series of publicity, marketing, and publishing positions at S&S, Grove/Atlantic, Random House, and Crown. I joined Penguin in 2002 as the #2 executive for a new business imprint, Portfolio. Over the next 17 years I played a key role in Portfolio’s growth into a significant publisher of about 50 books each year, in categories well beyond business.
As Vice President, Deputy Publisher & Marketing Director of Portfolio and Sentinel, I was deeply involved in all aspects of the publishing process — from acquisitions to high-level editorial strategy, to brainstorming titles and cover designs, to writing positioning copy, to strategizing and executing marketing and publicity campaigns. I also edited several books.
Since going solo in May 2019, I’ve ghostwritten and co-written full manuscripts, sample chapters, and book proposals for corporate CEOs, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, professors, consultants, military officers, and other experts.
